ASDP Indonesia Ferry Serves 3 LDF Routes From Patimban Port

The Ministry of Transportation together with PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) launched the first voyage of the Long Distance Ferry (LDF) crossing from Patimban Port in Subang, West Java, to several routes in Indonesia.

LDF will serve three routes: Patimban-Panjang, Patimban-Pontianak and Patimban-Banjarmasin. In the launching inauguration, ASDP deployed KMP Ferrindo 5 to serve Patimban-Panjang LDF route as far as 210 miles with a voyage time of 19 hours.

The ship carried a cargo of 98 small vehicles and 1 large truck loaded with 40 motorbikes.

KMP Ferrindo 5 has technical specifications of 3,566 GT, with a vessel length (LOA) of 91.74 meters, a vessel width of 15.5 meters, and a carrying capacity of 56 passengers and 109 mixed vehicles.

For the Patimban-Banjarmasin route as far as 444 miles, the travel time is estimated at 40 hours, while the travel time for the Patimban-Pontianak route is 420 miles, about 38 hours.

ASDP Indonesia Ferry President Director Ira Puspadewi said that the operation of the early stages of the Patimban-Panjang route was the fourth LDF served by ASDP following the Surabaya-Lembar, Jakarta-Surabaya, and Ketapang-Sheet routes.

"With the opening of this route, it will become an alternative route for goods transportation that will strengthen the logistics sector in Java and Sumatra, as well as in Kalimantan," he said, Sunday (10/1/2021).

So far, the logistics routes for Java and Sumatra through crossings have been focused on the Merak-Bakauheni route. With the service through Patimban Port, she hoped it could spur economic growth, not only in West Java and Lampung, but also nationally.

Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Budi Setiyadi, said the Patimban-Panjang route is expected to reduce congestion and road loads due to large vehicle volumes and vehicle load dimensions and volumes that violate the provisions of Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL), as well as reduce air pollution levels from transportation exhaust emissions.
